Sevusevu to Ngāi Tahu

On behalf of and the wider Fijian community, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to manage whenua for the beautiful powhiri and warm welcome held at the Lake Hayes Pavilion, Saturday 9th May, 2026.

It was truly a humbling and special occasion for our community to be welcomed onto the whenua in such a meaningful way. The sharing of culture, respect, stories, and connection reminded us of the importance of unity, belonging, and whakawhanaungatanga.

We were deeply honoured to present our Fijian Sevusevu as a symbol of respect, gratitude and friendship. Seeing both Maori and Fijian traditions come together was powerful and emotional for many of us.

Vinaka vakalevu to everyone who helped organize and support this special event. We look forward to continuing to strengthen the relationship between our communities for future generations

Ngai mihi nui and vinaka vakalevu
